Growing up in Minnesota, my enchantment with all things involving clothing began at an early age. From making my Barbies outfits to designing one of a kind looks for my friends on the playground to styling any outfit I could. One moment that stands out in my mind would be the ensemble I created from my clothing and goodies in my dress up box. Starting with a hot pink Space Jam sweatsuit and accessorizing with giant sunglasses, faux bridal bouquet, bangles, rainbow colored beaded necklaces, and topped it off white chunky socks stuffed into oversized white pumps.
Over the years and through receiving my BFA in fashion design at Parsons, my style and aesthetic has evolved, but the playfulness and sense of enchantment still remains. As a designer I let my curiosity lead me serendipitously to various forms of inspiration. Through exploring and researching, I pinpoint a way to transport the inspiration from paper to the form. Then delving into the form draping and creating, my designs begin take shape. Moments of softness are often complimented by structure. No matter the approach or inspiration my collections maintain an aesthetic that is whimsical, feminine, and sophisticated.
